"I am in a good position to see the absolute truth...?

I am brilliant and I am unloved. %26quot; This was a line in this week%26#039;s Doctor Who but it was so profound I thought there must be more to it. Has it been quoted from somewhere else? Do you believe it is correct?
%26quot;I am in a good position to see the absolute truth...?
So thats why nobody likes me?
%26quot;I am in a good position to see the absolute truth...?
I thought it was a kind of smartypants line. Tried a search on the net to see if it was nicked, but found nothing.

I would have thought that %26quot;brilliant and unloving%26quot; would put one in a better position to see the absolute truth.
Reply:i would think having a timelord on hand would bring knowledge of the absolute truth far easier than any supposed objective clarity of mind offered by not colouring your world with love.
Reply:Whatever %26#039;love%26#039; is...it sure can get in the way of seeing things clearly. Love blinds people...and then there%26#039;s that saying: %26quot;Love is Blind%26quot;
Reply:i think it means that he is both very clever and has no need to please anyone, so his judgements should be sound.

i think it%26#039;s a nice quote, but i think those two things alone are not enough to give someone the edge in percieving things accurately.

there are many things he may not mention that make his judgements very poor, like he could be drunk or mad.

being brilliant should help with truth seeking, but it depends on the kind of brilliance. some people are so smart they can%26#039;t see past their own thoughts to the world underneath.

as for not being loved, i appreciate the idea that you are then maybe independant of some kind of bias, or somehow detached, but the same situation could result in other problems that skew your thoughts. like your lonely and depressed or something..

i don%26#039;t know if any of this is much helpful. i don%26#039;t watch doctor how.

edit - the whole premise of being able to see absolute truth is a difficult one, and a little logic shows an average person, not brilliant or unloved, what can be know absolutly versus what can not.

you are aware

there is stuff

are the only things that can be proven. what is the %26#039;absolute truth%26#039; about either awareness or stuff can never be known.

by my reasoning.
Reply:There are few if any absolute truths.

Every perspective gives one a unique view of the truths and lies out there.

I have a focus on the big pictures and I take a few ideas and stretch them close to or beyond breaking. My mind is in many ways more unique than most but I perhaps would swap my uniquly engineered sledge hammer for a more refined instrument like the mind like Edward Witten%26#039;s.

There is however already an Edward Witten so I perhaps should add my mind to the universes wealth of knowledge.
Reply:If you`re brilliant you have pretty good chances of finding the absolute truth.

But if you`re unloved, what is it worth?
Reply:Its simply the work of the shows script writers trying to sound profound. Actually, you%26#039;re in the position to see the truth every day of your life. Whether you do or not is up to you.
